Yoga for strength, mobility, and balance

Feeling like your body isn’t as flexible or strong as it used to be? Wondering if yoga is only for the young and ultra-flexible? You’re not alone. Many people hesitate to try yoga, thinking they’re not the “right” fit.

It’s a common belief that yoga is mainly for young, flexible women, but that’s far from the truth. As we age, maintaining health becomes crucial, yet finding the right exercise for physical and mental health can be challenging.

Maybe you’ve tried yoga before but felt out of place, or you’ve never tried because you thought it wasn’t for you. You might worry about not keeping up with fast-paced classes or feeling disconnected from overly spiritual sessions for you.

Well, you don’t have to worry about any of those things when you join one of my classes!

A different approach to yoga

I teach a form of yoga focused on strength and mobility, perfect for those who think they’ve “aged out” of yoga. My training in Iyengar yoga and subsequent study with a biomechanist has shaped my teaching to focus on holding poses for longer, enhancing both strength and flexibility at any age.

Both online and face-to-face classes are perfect for any age group – those in their 40s and 50s, and beyond.

Over 20 years practising yoga

My passion for yoga deepened 12 years ago, marking the start of a profound journey into its practice and philosophy.

Advanced training with Jules Mitchell

In 2020, I completed a 300-hour course, becoming the first UK teacher trained by yoga teacher and biomechanist, Jules Mitchell. This experience enriched my teaching with the latest movement science, blending traditional yoga with contemporary research in somatics and chronic pain.

Innovative teaching approach

My method encourages exploring sensation and movement science within a yogic framework. It supports joy and ease in practice while acknowledging the body’s natural wisdom and self-healing capabilities.

Iyengar yoga certification

I began teaching through intensive training with Sheila Haswell, focusing on precision and alignment in yoga.

Remarkable results

Over the years, I’ve seen remarkable transformations in my students, many of whom were initially hesitant.

They’ve gained not just physical strength and mobility, but also a renewed sense of vitality. From online classes to quarterly workshops, my students – men and women alike – have discovered that yoga is truly for everyone.
